Revolutionizing Industrial Computing: HighPoint's Small-Footprint High-Density NVMe RAID Storage AIC

HighPoint’s rugged, ultra-compact PCIe Gen4 M.2 Series NVMe RAID add-in-cards (AICs) can directly host up to 8 off-the-shelf M.2 SSDs of any form-factor and capacity, and are ideal for industrial server and workstation platforms that require blazing-fast NVMe transfer performance in a small-footprint PCIe form-factor. HighPoint M.2 RAID controllers deliver class-leading storage capacity in a compact AIC device that can be easily integrated into any industry standard PC or Mac computing platform. SSD series Gen4 RAID AICs can directly host up to 32TB of storage at speeds up to 28,000MB/s via a single PCIe 4.0 x16 slot.

Industry’s Most Compact Mass Storage Solutions

Unlike U.2 or U.3 media, which utilize the standard 2.5” disk form-factor and are connected to the host system via backplanes, M.2 SSDs can be hosted directly by the storage controller. In addition, M.2 AICs require no internal drive bays or cabling accessories. This tidy hardware packaging is ideal for industrial platforms and 1U or 2U servers, which often have limited interior space. HighPoint’s high-density 8-Channel M.2 AICs can legitimately claim to be the industry’s most compact, mass-storage solutions, and can directly host up to 32TB of capacity in a device sized similarly to a modern dual-width GPU. The SSD7540 can support up to eight 2242/2260/2280 form-factor SSDs in a full-length, single-width AIC form factor that can be easily installed into any full-sized server or workstation. The SSD7749M’s unique dual-width architecture enables it to support eight 22110 data-center class M.2 SSDs.

Available for Server & Workstation Platforms of any Shape, Size and Form-Factor

M.2 NVMe media’s small hardware footprint allows for a diverse array of AIC design. HighPoint PCIe Gen4 M.2 RAID AICs are available for computing platforms of any shape and size, including compact industrial platforms, custom-built PCs, and factory-built tower workstations, servers and rack mount servers. The half-height, half-length dual-port SSD7502 is ideal for 1U rackmounts and desktop computers, while the Full-Height, Dual-Width SSD7749M enables full-size towers to support an unprecedented eight 22110 form-factor SSDs form a single PCIe slot.

HighPoint’s Hyper Cooling Technology: A Leap Forward in NVMe SSD Performance & Stability

It’s no secret that PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSDs generate a considerable of waste heat under sustained I/O. As a result, these SSDs are designed to limit data transfer when temperature thresholds are crossed to protect sensitive hardware; a technique known as ”thermal throttling”. In order to optimize M.2 storage performance, you will need a way to keep temperatures in check. HighPoint’s PCIe Gen4 M.2 NVMe RAID AICs were engineered to confront the threat of thermal throttling head on, and do not need to rely on the host platform to keep storage temperatures in check. Each AIC is equipped with an ultra-efficient hardware cooling solution designed specifically for high-density NVMe storage configurations. Known as “Low-Noise Hyper-Cooling”, this solution leverages an anodized aluminum heatsink with one or more low-decibel cooling fans, high-efficiency thermal padding and a ventilated PCIe bracket. The Hyper Cooling system rapidly transfers waste heat away from sensitive componentry to ensure the hosted M.2 SSDs consistently operate within their recommended temperature thresholds, even under sustained heavy I/O.

HighPoint SafeStorage Encryption Solution

SSD7580C_WebGUI_lock.png

HighPoint SafeStorage is a unified NVMe Hardware Encryption Solution developed to accommodate both large-scale RAID arrays and individually configured SSDs, and can be scaled across multiple HighPoint PCIe AICs connected to the host platform.

SafeStorage was developed to work in conjunction with leading SED technology employed by a wide range of NVMe media, and is based on the OPAL SSC TCG specifications. It is designed to protect critical assets when physical drives are misplaced or stolen by preventing unauthorized access to stored data. RAID volumes are encrypted at the time of creation, and will automatically activate each disk member’s self-encryption capabilities. Learn More About HighPoint SafeStorage
