Bootable Expansion Drives for Dell and HP Server and Workstation Platforms

RocketAIC bootable series of expansion drives are an ideal way to upgrade the system disk of Dell and HP workstation and server platforms. RocketAIC drives are especially well-suited for Virtualization platforms and workflows that rely on VDI (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure), as they deliver exceptional performance and are available in capacities that are capable of simultaneously hosting the virtualization OS and multiple virtual machines.

RocketAIC drives are shipped pre-configured, and ready to use right out of the box. Installation is a simple affair, regardless if you are installing a clean OS or simply adding storage to an existing platform; simply insert the compact PCIe add-in-card into a free slot, power up the system and install the device driver when prompted. The host system will immediately recognize the RocketAIC drive as a single, physical disk, which can be partitioned and formatted as desired, just like any other ordinary drive.

While RocketAIC drives are tuned for maximum performance and storage density by default, they can be easily reconfigured to operate in a mirrored state, which provides an extra layer of redundancy for bootable applications.

Bootable Expansion Drives for Virtualization Platforms and VDI Workflows

RocketAIC drives are available for all major virtualization platforms including Hyper-V, Proxmox, and ESXi, and current enterprise operating systems, such as RHEL, Windows Server. RocketAIC drives will be recognized by your platform of choice as ordinary physical drives; whether adding storage to an existing system, upgrading a platform’s bootable system disk, or preparing a new Virtualization server. In addition, RocketAIC drives are equally suited to hosting the virtual machines; device drivers are readily available for all major Windows OS and Linux Distributions. Customers that require compatibility with VMware-based platforms can opt for our RocketAIC 6202AW or RocketAIC 6204AW drives, which are supported natively by ESXi.

Ultra-Compact Solutions for 1U Rack Mounts and Mini Workstations

HighPoint’s bootable RocketAIC series drives are available in Half-Height/Half-Length form factors, which are ideal for compact Tower Workstations and 1U Rack Servers. The RocketAIC 7502x and 6202x series drives are capable of hosting up to 8TB of storage capacity, and can deliver optimal performance with just x8 lanes of host bandwidth.

Hybrid Storage Configurations

RocketAIC drives can be reconfigured at will; administrators can redistribute the NVMe media into different arrays, each tailored to a specific operating system or application.

While RocketAIC drives are shipped preconfigured to maximize storage capacity and performance, customers can easily reconfigure them into a new array or virtual disk, create multiple virtual disks, or even just use the hosted NVMe SSDs as separate drives. This enables RocketAIC drives to be tailored to host multiple bootable operating systems, or the Virtual Host and virtual platforms using a single add-in-card.

Maximize Redundancy for System Disks

Though RocketAIC drives are shipped preconfigured to maximize storage capacity and performance, customers can easily reconfigure the drives to act as data mirrors. Mirroring technology, AKA RAID 1, remains one of the most effective ways to secure a bootable system disk against the possibility of device failure.

A mirrored RocketAIC drive creates an automated backup of the target system disk. If the original should fail, the mirrored backup will immediately, and seamlessly, take the reins. This enables the host system to remain online, and continue to operate normally. The redundancy delivered by a mirrored drive is essential for many server-based applications, especially Virtual Machine and hosting solutions, which must remain available for client access on a 24/7/365 basis.
