Simple, Compact External NVMe RAID Storage Solutions Ideal for In-Vehicle Recording
HighPoint’s SSD6780A Deliver Astonishing Write Performance & over 100TB Storage Capacity!
HighPoint’s SSD6780A enables solution providers to easily integrate blazing fast, hot-pluggable NVMe RAID storage into AV workflows.
HighPoint’s SSD6780A RAID enclosure is only 4.5” tall, yet can host upwards of 120TB of U.2, U.3 or M.2 NVMe RAID storage at speeds suitable for networks of 150GigE or more, and DAS applications over 20,000MB/s.

HighPoint’s SSD6780A Deliver Astonishing Write Performance & over 100TB Storage Capacity!
The SSD6780A’s performance-focused hardware architecture leverages dedicated PCIe Gen4 x16 host to device connectivity and intelligent switch technology to allocate up to x4 lanes of bandwidth to each NVMe SSD, on the fly. The external connection on the host side is provided by a discreet half-height PCIe 4.0 x16 HBA; its compact dimensions enable it to be easily integrated into nearly any modern platform including mini-PCs/desktop workstations, rackmount servers and industrial computers.
Integrated Hot-Plug & Hot-Swap Capability Streamlines Troubleshooting & Maintenance Workflows
True NVMe Hot Plug Support makes Moving RAID Storage a Snap!
Unlike the vast majority of NVMe storage appliances, the SSD6780A RAID enclosure features true Hot-Plug and Hot-Swap capability. These features represent a major technical advancement for an NVMe based solution, as it can drastically streamline service and upgrade workflows.
The SSD6780A’s eight removable 2.5” drive trays and comprehensive software management suite enable administrators to easily add or remove one or more NVMe SSDs on the fly, as necessity demands; this includes RAID and single-drive configurations. The enclosure will automatically notify the operating system of any changes, in real time. No shutdown or reboot is required!
Built-In NVMe RAID Engine
The SSD6780A features a built in RAID engine that employs the latest version of HighPoint’s proven PCIe Gen4 NVMe RAID stack. The enclosure and hosted NVMe media can be freely moved between systems without compromising the RAID configuration or data assets.
This versatile technology enables administrators to configure storage configurations for any application, and fine tune the NVMe media to optimize performance, security or a balance of the two. RAID 1 mirroring protects data against the risk of device failure by creating a hidden duplicate of the target SSD, and is ideal for bootable volumes. Up to 8 SSDs can be configured into a RAID 0 stripe array to maximize storage performance and capacity. RAID 10 provides an ideal mix of security and performance, as it combines the speed of a stripe array with the mirrored data protection of a RAID 1 array.
HighPoint SafeStorage Secures In-Transit Data
The SSD6780A enclosure can support self-encrypting drives (SEDs), a data security feature available with Enterprise and Datacenter class NVMe media. This feature secures data against unauthorized access, and can be applied to RAID and non-RAID storage configurations.
Simple, Elegant Single-Cable Solution with Dedicated Host-to-Device PCIe Gen4 x16 Connectivity
The SSD6780A’s unique cabling solution requires only a single connection between the enclosure and host platform. The proprietary design was engineered to make installation a snap, while guaranteeing a stable, secure Gen4 x16 connection between the enclosure backplane and the host computer’s PCIe bus.
The cable features a quick-release locking system with built-in sensors designed to monitor the connection status and notify administrators in the event of signal loss or bandwidth degradation.

Intelligent Self-Diagnostic & Monitoring Services
The SSD6780A’s advanced suite of sensors, LED indicators and alarms streamline service & management workflows. A professional IT background is not required; administrators can quickly asses the condition of the storage appliance with a simple glance.
The SSD6780A enclosure includes suite of self-diagnostic, hardware monitoring services that actively survey and report the status of the host-to-device cable/PCIe connection, temperature of the enclosure environment and SSD media, and health of hosted RAID storage configurations . Each service works in conjunction with HighPoint’s WebGUI and CLI software management utilities, which are available for Linux, macOS and Windows based computing platforms.
The enclosure LEDs employ simple color-codes to immediately indicate the status or condition of the enclosure and hosted storage. Blue indicates an optimal/normal condition, Yellow indicates a Warning or error condition, and Red is used to indicate a failure or disabled device condition.

Independent, Active Cooling Solutions
The performance capabilities of an NVMe RAID solution won’t amount to much in an uncontrolled hardware environment. NVMe media runs quite hot under load, especially PCIe Gen4 M.2 SSDs. To ensure the long-term viability of NVMe storage configurations, administrators need a quick, reliable away to keep tabs on the storage media and ensure ambient temperature is under control. The SSD6780A provides all the tools you need to actively combat the threat of waste heat, and ensure critical storage can remain online.
Due to the nature of the external form factor, the SSD6780A’s advanced cooling system is entirely self-contained; it requires no additional hardware and functions independent of the host platform. The robust, aluminum chassis is equipped with a pair of powerful, low-decibel cooling fans and ventilated drive bays.

The comprehensive real-time monitoring system incorporates full fan control with LED indication, audible alarms and programmable thresholds that can be customized to correspond with your selection of NVMe SSDs. These features were designed to work in conjunction with HighPoint’s WebGUI and CLI software management suites.

Manage Your NVMe Storage Outside of the OS
Both allow the SSDs and RAID storage to be administered directly, independent of the host platform; the OOB port via a direct USB-C connection to a client system (such as a service-oriented laptop), and Remote Management via an industry standard RJ-45 ethernet port. Both options have integrated security features, and limit administrators to storage configuration, maintenance and analysis. Customer data assets are safe from intrusion, and cannot be accessed via either service.
