1)Make sure to download the latest driver package for the host adapter you are using. Each download includes the necessary driver(s), instruction guides, and BIOS update for the OS you are working with.
2) Most of HighPoint Linux drivers have no special requirements on adapter BIOS versions. However, some of the Linux drivers require the host adapter’s BIOS to be updated. Please refer to the readme file in the driver package for BIOS requirements.
3) Are you installing the OS directly to an array or hard disk attached to the host adapter, or just want to add the host adapter to an existing system?
The installation procedure is quite different for either option - make sure to refer to the correct installation guide.
4) Linux included default drivers for many of HighPoint’s controller IC's and host adapters. The default driver support does not include RAID functionality.
Make sure to disable these default drivers if you want to make use of the card's native RAID features.
5) If you are running a Linux operating system not currently supported by HighPoint driver packages, you may want to consider the open build versions. These downloads allow you to compile your own support, and are designed to work with specific kernel ranges.
